Master of Science in Human Resources Management (MSHRM)

DESCRIPTION

The Master of Science in Human Resources Management (MSHRM) program is a professional program designed to offer Graduates of diversified undergraduate programs an opportunity to obtain a proficiency in human resources management skills. This degree program is a professional master's degree program that requires an understanding of the accepted professional practices in the field of human resources management. The objectives of MSHRM program are to prepare students to:

  1. develop program solving skills required to confront human resources management issues in a dynamic and uncertain business environment,
  2. synthesize in apply knowledge, theories, and concepts from the field of HRM and various other business disciplines in their problem solving analysis,
  3. identify and develop alternative problem solutions to HRM problems,
  4. evaluate and choose from among the alternative identify, and
  5. effectively communicate the results of their analysis.
ADMISSION STANDARDS
Prerequisite Requirments

Candidates for admission must have a baccalaureate degree in any subject area from a regionally accredited college or university. The MSHRM degree program requires no prerequisite courses; however, the MAN 6601 Advanced Concepts and Topics in Management course must be taken for graduate credit if the student does not have an undergraduate major in business. If the student has an undergraduate major in business, an elective course will be substituted.

Unconditional Admission

All transcripts from all universities attended are required.

Conditional Admission

Students not satisfying the test score and GPA requirements for unconditional admission may be conditionally admitted to the program. After completion of the first four courses with a “B” or better average, unconditional admission will be granted.

Students not satisfying conditional admission requirements will be dropped from the program for one calendar year at which time the student must petition for readmission. Students with a baccalaureate degree from an unaccredited or otherwise accredited institution should see Unaccredited or Otherwise Accredited Student Admission.

CURRICULUM

All courses offer three semester hours credit except HRM 6625, 6626, and 6627.

TRANSFER CREDIT

A maximum of four courses (12 semester hours) taken at another regionally accredited institution each with a ‘“B” grade or better may be applied toward the degree. These courses must be comparable in catalog description to Troy State University courses and approved by the Dean of Graduate Study and the Department Chair.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO CANDIDACY
  1. To be admitted to candidacy, students must have a 3.0 GPA on all work attempted.
  2. Unconditionally admitted graduate students may apply for admission to candidacy after completing 6 semester graduate hours and requirements as outlined for the specific degree program. A student will be admitted to candidacy the term following completion of 12 semester hours.
